BBFC Ratings info
THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING WOMAN is a US sci-fi comedy about a housewife who becomes a media sensation after shrinking to a minuscule size. Language: There is a single use of 'shit' and a rude middle finger gesture. Sex: Sex references include the name proposed for a new brand of perfume, 'Sex Pot', and several allusions to the main character's husband's frustration at the state of their sex life. There is also a passing drug reference when one character makes a remark about 'dope'.

Sex & Nudity
Sex & Nudity Reason
Several characters use the term 'sex pot,' and it's used to name a perfume. A married couple kiss. A woman attempts to become intimate with her husband but is comically thrown off the bed (she is tiny). Her husband is seen reading a book entitled "Marriage Without Sex". She is seen briefly wearing a bra and slip while she washes her dress.

Violence & Gore
Violence & Gore Reason
A woman is kidnapped from her own home and imprisoned in a laboratory. The heroes of the film are chased by a group of armed guards, who fire on them constantly, but nobody is actually shot. A man steps on two policemen's feet in order to get them to arrest him.

Profanity Reason
A woman says the word "Shit". A gorilla gives a group of villains the middle finger.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking Reason
Adults are seen drinking champagne. A woman takes a drag off of a cigarette, although the scene is comic since she is tiny and the cigarette is enormous.

Frightening & Intense Scenes
Frightening & Intense Scenes Reason
The main character is menaced in various ways, both by villains and by accidents due to her tiny size, but it is always presented in a comedic way and only very sensitive children would possibly be afraid. After escaping the laboratory, Pat makes a heartwarming speech to her neighbours. During the speech, she begins to shrink dramatically and eventually she is gone. Everyone starts crying and mourning her, and even though she returns in the end, this scene is rather sad. Pat, Sydney and Rob are all running from the police, and although it's played for laughs, young/sensitive viewers may find it intense.
