Sex & Nudity
Sex & Nudity Reason
Two women are briefly seen kissing in a bathroom stall. A little sexual discussion. Michael J Fox make a slightly drunken pass at a co-worker but she gently rebuffs him.

Violence & Gore
Violence & Gore Reason
Ironically, this very serious film's one scene of violence is played primarily as comic relief. Michael J Fox and Kieffer Sutherland attempt to put a ferret in Fox's boss's office. The ferret freaks out and bites Fox hard on the hand. Fox inadvertantly throws the ferret at Sutherland and it bites him near his crotch. We see the ferret hanging off his pants while he is a screaming(Note: This scene takes place in a darkened office so much of the action is difficult to see and some moments involving the ferret are quite obviously using a fake ferret). We see some blood on Fox's hand after it is all over. A suit of armor falls on a man and he is mildly hurt in the same scene.

Profanity Reason
Regular use of profanity. Words used include fuck, shit, ass words, damn, goddamn, etc.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking Reason
The film's primary theme is addiction. So, we see cocaine being snorted several times throughout the film including a scene where Michael J Fox does lines on a coffee table and another where he gets a nosebleed from his cocaine abuse. Alcohol is regularly consumed in clubs, parties, and other social venues. Jason Robards' character is in a state of severe inebriation every moment he is on screen even to the point where he seems to be hallucinating at times and babbles incoherently and talks with slurred speech. Fox's character has a drunken moment or two. Cigarettes are smoked in some scenes.

Frightening & Intense Scenes
Frightening & Intense Scenes Reason
Fox has a dream where he talks to bizarre looking baby that could creep out some people(the scene is brief). Flashbacks to Fox's mother who is dying of cancer and his depression over her death is one of the reasons that he drinks and does drugs.
