THE HOWLING is a US horror in which a newswoman is sent to a remote mountain resort after surviving a dangerous encounter with a serial killer. Threat: Scenes include a decomposing man, a graphic transformation sequence as a man turns into a werewolf, and moments of horror violence include the severing of a werewolf's arm. Violence: There is a sequence of sexual violence as two characters watch a pornographic film in which a woman is forcibly held down, gagged and her clothes are torn off. Other scenes of violence include shootings and stabbings. A sequence in which a man and woman begin to have sex includes breast and pubic hair nudity. Language is mild.

The man's buttocks are seen from the rear and we see a full frontal shot, while brief, of the woman. Pubic hair and breasts are clear but somewhat out of focus due to the smokiness/mistiness of the scene. The pair then have sex and transform into werewolves.

A man is shown with a melted face. He starts to change into a werewolf but is shot in the neck. A woman is killed by a werewolf. Later on, we see her body with a bloody and wounded neck. The corpse of a woman lies on a table. It's covered in blood and some viscera.
