Violence & Gore
Violence & Gore Reason
a man's throat is cut, we do not see the act but the bloody aftermath as another pirate tries to shake him awake. Quite shocking and abrupt for a kids movie Two men engage in a fight with swords, but neither man is seriously injured. A man collapses and dies after being handed a "black spot" (summons). Two groups of men engage gunfire and cannon fire. One man is shot in the stomach and collapses. Another man is shot in the side and dies soon after. A man dies off camera, and we hear his cry of terror. A man knocks another man down with a stick, grapples with him, and stabs him through the chest with a knife. Two groups of men shoot at each other with guns and cannons. A man is stabbed in the leg. A group of men is fired on by another group of men. Several men fall to the ground, as if shot. Two men grapple. One man runs a sword through another man. We see the sword go into the man's stomach and come out his back. Lots of talk about killing and being hanged, throughout the movie. A man throws a knife at a boy. The knife grazes the boy's arm and pins his clothing to the mast of a ship. The boy fires two guns at the man, grazing him, and causing him to fall off the mast into the sea below, where he drowns.

Profanity Reason
Most of the pirates use moderate swearing such as bastard, bugger, bloody hell and other similar profanities. "Up your arse, mutineer!" is a direct quote. Other expressions include: "Damn", "Goddamn", "Son of a whore".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking Reason
Near constant consumption of rum.

Frightening & Intense Scenes
Frightening & Intense Scenes Reason
The fight scenes, including sword fights, gun fire, and cannon fire, can be intense for young children. A skeleton is found in the jungle, with hair attached to the skull and the mouth open. This is a short scene, but may frighten younger viewers.
