- Sex & Nudity
- Sex & Nudity Reason
- Extremely brief non-graphic reference to masturbation. Most kids will not get it, and it is not an obviously crude reference.
In one scene an older boy tells his friends that his girlfriend only lets him touch her boobs. Then he said she was Catholic.
A kid says that he can see that a girl's boobs are getting bigger.
Infrequent mild sexual references are made, mostly in a joking or humorous manner. No actual sex or nudity whatsoever in this film.
Some very brief rude dialogue, but on the most part it is innocent
As most of the mild sexual dialogue is used by kids and teens, it is not harmful and a lot less extreme than movies like The Shawshank Redemption
Four boys come out of a pond with leeches all over them. It is implied that one of the boys' has a leech stuck on his penis. He reaches into his underwear and faints briefly after that.
- Violence & Gore
- Violence & Gore Reason
- After falling into a deep pond, the gang find leeches on their bodies. When taking them off, blood is seen. This may be disturbing.
Kids are put in dangerous situations but the film isn't violent.
A dead body is seen. His eyes are open and he has some blood on his face.
A young man has a word carved into his skin with a razor-blade, with blood seen. This is voluntary however, so there is no violence during the scene.
An older boy bullies a younger boy by pushing him to the ground, getting on top of him, and putting a lit cigarette close to the his face. It then stops before anything happens.
Teddy continuously punches Vern in the shoulder. Vern finally gets fed up and jumps on top of Teddy, pummeling him.
The villain threatens several young boys with a knife but is stopped before anything can occur.
Gordie unexpectedly blows a hole in a trash can.
The antagonist is threatened with a gun.
We hear someone was killed with a stab to the throat.
There's a drag race and one even drives into the path of an oncoming truck. A truck swerves to avoid running someone over.
A boy dies in a car crash. We just hear about it
In this scene gordies coming back from buying $2.37 worth of groceries, jumps the gate to the junkyard & is spotted by the owner Milo. At this time gordie hears Milo shout to his guard dog to "Sic Em" & go get him! A horrible & intense scene for a very scared Gordie.

Tits is used a couple times as well.

Name-calling ("fatass", "asshole", "stupid", "bastard", "son of a bitch", "idiot", "whore", "faggot", "looney", "douchebag" etc.)
Rated R for language
The F-word is used 10-15 times in this film
4 goddamns, plus a couple uses of Jesus (particularly in one memorable line).
13 uses of pussy in a non-sexual way.
There is swearing, but nothing too bad
Other strong language, such as shit, fuck, a--hole, etc.
The kids use some minor language as insults, but it is in a joking manner

- Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
- Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking Reason
- Young boys are seen smoking cigarettes.
Older teens drink and drive (as well as smoke) in several scenes.
- Frightening & Intense Scenes
- Frightening & Intense Scenes Reason
- A scene in which a boy tells a story about a pie eating competition that results in many people shown violently ill and projectile vomiting
There are several threatening scenes between the boys and an older gang.
A group of pre-teen boys stay in the woods one night and they all take turns of keeping watch with a gun.
An intense stand-off scene with characters threatening each other with a knife and gun.
A scene in which a young boy is spying on two older boys may be intense as there is a risk that he might be seen.
We see a funeral recession for a teen boy where the father blames his other son (this is all a dream).
A man mocks a boy's mentally ill father and the boy tries to scale a fence to kill a man.
In one scene, the boys are walking on train tracks, and when the train comes the boys are running for their lives, a very intense scene as two of the boys were almost hit, but they make it off the tracks.
