BBFC Ratings info
LETHAL WEAPON is a crime drama about a depressed police detective who, when reassigned with a new older partner, discovers an illegal drug trafficking ring. Language There are frequent uses of strong language ('f**k'). Violence A man is tortured when tied to a chair and electrocuted. There are also frequent strong bloody shootings and a prolonged fight sequence which includes punches, kicks and head butts, all of which are delivered with strong impact detail. Drugs A woman is seen snorting a line of cocaine. Nudity There is sexualised bare breast nudity when a woman walks around an apartment and also when a man appears to be watching an adult video, though there is no explicit detail. There are also brief moments of natural nudity.

Sex & Nudity
Sex & Nudity Reason
At the very beginning, we see a woman laying on a bed. Her bare breasts are seen. She then gets up and starts sniffing cocaine off of a glass table. She then goes out to her balcony, and looks over the edge of the railing. We see both of her bare breasts. She then climbs up on top of the railing and the wind blows her nightgown open, revealing both of her bare breasts again. Riggs gets up out of his bed fully naked. We see his bare buttocks in this scene. No genitals are seen, just his buttocks. The scene lasts about 8 seconds. 4 women are shown nude in a scene. A couple of women are topless and we see their bare breasts. One of the women takes of her top and we see her bare breasts. Michael says that his daughter, Amanda was making pornographic videotapes with her friends. We later see one of them. In one scene in the extended version, Riggs picks up a prostitute at a strip club. Nude women are shown in the background. Lots of talk about prostitutes and proposition, never very graphic.

Violence & Gore
Violence & Gore Reason
Murtaugh shoots at the bad guy driving a car in the head, and the car crashes and flips on its side. There's a shootout in a club where Riggs kills several bad guys, and then chases Joshua all along Hollywood Boulevard. Riggs gets into a brief shootout with a group of drug dealers at a Christmas tree lot, and all but one of the dealers is killed. One is shot in the chest with a shotgun and dies, with much blood seen on his shirt, and Riggs shoots two others, bloodlessly. The third grabs Riggs and holds him at gunpoint, but he disarms the man and head butts him. Riggs and Murtaugh try to apprehend a suspect, but he shoots at them, and Riggs shoots him, and he falls into a pool and dies. There's a lengthy shootout in a desert, and Riggs shoots several men with a sniper rifle. Murtaugh also trades bullets with several attackers during this scene. McAllister holds a lighter to Joshua's arm and ignites it, to demonstrate Joshua's tolerance to pain. A car crashes into a house. Riggs breaks a man's neck with his legs, throws the man onto the floor in the next room, and fights and shoots two other bad guys in that room. Some bloody bullet holes are seen. Amanda Hunsaker leaps off a balcony. She smashes into a car, and her corpse is shown for a little while. Riggs is tortured with electric shocks, and Murtaugh is tortured by being punched. The scene cuts between their respective tortures and goes on for a while. There is a brutal final fight scene between Riggs and Joshua that goes on for 4-5 minutes. Riggs eventually chokes him out and walks away, but he attacks again, and Riggs and Murtaugh both turn and shoot him in the chest, killing him. Peter McAllister and his henchman are blown up in a car. A house is blown up while Dixie is inside.

Profanity Reason
One use of "fag". About 30 uses each of "f*ck" and "shit." Other profanity including "goddamn," "hell," etc.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking Reason
The plot involves the drug trade, therefore being several references to drug dealing and usage. Amanda Hunsaker is shown taking cocaine. A man tastes cocaine (he only does it to reinforce his cover in a drug sting operation). Riggs is seen smoking frequently.

Frightening & Intense Scenes
Frightening & Intense Scenes Reason
Lots of intense scenes, which can also be frightening. The two main characters are tortured, but the scene is not very long, and both escape relatively unharmed. The film's final fight scene can be pretty brutal and intense. Riggs is suicidal in the film, and holds a loaded gun near his head. Rated R for strong violence and language throughout, some nudity and drug content
