BBFC Ratings info
Home Alone is a 1990 comedy adventure film in which an eight year old boy must fend off burglars when he is inadvertently left at home while his family fly off to France for Christmas. Violence: There are a number of scenes in which violence is inflicted on the two burglars by the child character. However, the violence is always slapstick and comic in nature and there is no focus on realistic injury detail. Language: There is occasional bad language, including uses of 'crap' and 'shit'. The film also includes some behaviour that would be potentially dangerous if copied. For example, the booby traps devised by the young hero include placing a heating element over a metal door handle and pouring water on stone steps in freezing conditions in order to create a slippery surface. However, it is clear that the boy is setting these traps in order to protect himself and and that such behaviour is not normally acceptable. At one point, the boy discovers a Playboy magazine in his brother's bedroom. However, there is no clear detail of nudity.

Violence & Gore Reason
evin watches a movie called Angels with Filthy Souls and a deal between two gangster-type characters goes awry, with the character named Johnny killing another man with a machine gun, which frightens Kevin. It is kind of graphic, smoke can be seen and Johnny laughs sadistically while killing the man. Black and white. The scene is repeated two times more later in the film, but used for comic effect. Comedic action and slapstick violence: Kevin climbs the shelf in Buzz's room and it breaks, he and everything falls. Kevin shoots action figures down the laundry chute with Buzz's BB gun. Kevin sets traps for the bad guys. They burn themselves, step on stuff that hurts, fall on stuff etc. They step on spikes and ornaments that hurt their feet, while wearing no shoes nor socks, get hit in the head with an iron, slip on ice, and get hit with a paint can. One of the burglars walks up the basement stairs barefoot and accidentally steps on a nail. No blood whatsoever. One scene when Kevin was at the store, the Snow Shovel Killer guy has blood in his hand like he was injured. Most of it is on the bandage. Not a lot of blood, still suitable for the PG rating.

Frightening & Intense Scenes Reason
The stories of Old Man Marley, a.k.a. "The Shovel Slayer" are particularly disturbing for some viewers. Some children who have been left home alone may find the subject matter rather disturbing or intense. Rated PG for mild language and rude humor. The Mother says KEVIN loudly which might scare some little kids Robbers are threatening towards Kevin. The slapstick finale is comically intended yet some of the booby traps (For example; one of the robbers steps bare foot on a rusty nail sticking up on the floor) can be fairly disturbing/cringeworthy for young children or particularly squeamish viewers. No blood is ever shown in these sequences. Robbers finally catch Kevin and hang him on a door hook by his jumper. They then threaten to 'blow his head with a blowtorch', 'smash his face with an iron', 'shove a nail through his foot' and 'bite his fingers off'. However, Kevin is saved by Marley and none of the actions take place. Intense and quite frightening.
