THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST is a historical drama, from 1988, which interprets the last days of Jesus Christ. Violence: During the crucifixion of Christ, it is strongly implied that nails are driven through Christ's hands, with sight of blood spurts upon impact. There are also several scenes in which Christ is beaten and whipped with bloody detail. The Crown of thorns is vigorously thrust on the head of Jesus Christ, resulting in bloody detail. There are also bloody stabbings. Sex: Mary Magdalene is seen having sex with multiple men who lie on top of her and gently thrust into her. It is implied the men are paying for sex. During the sex scene, there is brief sight of breast and buttock nudity. Nudity: Mary briefly exposes her breast to Jesus after he discovers her having sex with men. There is also natural full frontal male and female nudity which occurs within the context of a baptism.

Sex & Nudity Reason
There is a river scene with full frontal nudity--about four or so women with clear full frontal and one man showing brief full frontal nudity, both include pubic hair. There is a quick scene with a topless, tattooed woman. Several men are shown (one at a time) having sex serially with a prostitute but not much male nudity can be seen. Female full rear and breast nudity are seen. A woman is seen fully naked for a long period of time, her breasts, buttocks, and genitals are seen. Another viewer saw no such thing. There is a short scene of full-frontal nudity (male and female). Another viewer saw no such thing. As Jesus is being beaten just before he is taken to be crucified, there are brief views of his naked rear end. As the crown of thorns is placed on his head, he is shown nude from behind for several seconds. Jesus is seen having subduded sex with Mary Magdalene, but not much nudity is shown. Mary Magdalene is seen with a pregnant stomach and her breasts are also visible.

A man is crucified in the very beginning. We hear him scream as his hands are nailed. A woman has multiple stones thrown at her. A man is stabbed in the chest, he abruptly falls to the ground and we see blood on his clothes. In subsequent shots, we see a large pool of blood under him. Jesus is whipped several times. He is then given the crown of thorns, and some blood runs down his back. In shots of Jesus carrying the cross, blood is seen covering his chest. Jesus is crucified. As his hands are nailed, we see blood spraying. A guardian angel pulls the nails out of Jesus' hands. She also takes off his thorn crown. Jesus removes his own heart from his chest; he holds it in his hand while onlookers surround him.

A few scenes of wine consumption.

Frightening & Intense Scenes
severe
Frightening & Intense Scenes Reason
Intense and disturbing - contains some gory images. The flogging, bloody crown of thorns and crucifixion scenes of course will be disturbing. However, this is all very tame when compared to "The Passion of the Christ".
