Sex & Nudity
Sex & Nudity Reason
A man gets into a bath (no nudity) A little girl sleeps in just a shirt Some passionate kissing in the end scene, nothing too explicit. Mention of a cat being neutered twice (see "Profanity").

Violence & Gore
Violence & Gore Reason
An old man swears at a younger man during a funeral and then proceeds to punch him, shoving him around as the two get into a physical fight. The younger man is kicked in the stomach before he shoves the older man up against a coffin, knocking the coffin down. The hand of a deceased infant in seen briefly as the lid creaks open. A deceased man chases a frightened woman up a hill. A man steps on a rotting birch tree and loses his footing, rolling down a pile of debris. He hits his back and buttocks twice. A man falls out of bed after having an apparent nightmare; he rolls over, hits his head on a nearby dresser (a cracking sound is heard), and hits his back on the bed-frame. He hollers loudly and is then seen rubbing his back in pain. Graphic descriptions of deceased and dying things are made verbally, including a dead cat being said to have a broken neck "swivelling like it was full of ball bearings" and being ripped from the frosted ground like "sticky tape coming off a letter". A man's Achilles tendon is slit (very bloody) A child is run over. Their bloody shoe is shown (very upsetting and very emotional) A child kills a character with a scalpel. (offscreen) The character's mutilated body is shown later. A person killed by a truck and their brains are exposed. He is seen many times. A person's heel and mouth slashed with a scapel then gets his throat bitten out. This is onscreen in detail. A child tries to kill his father with a scalpel A woman who has a spine disease is shown dying, she can look disturbing to some. A dead cat is shown. A man holds the severed leg of a child in his fist, and as he turns to face the camera, he digs his fingernails into his cheeks, leaving brownish-clear blood streaming down his face. He then laughs morbidly. The same man dies in a house fire while dragging his father in with him soon after. A disemboweled rat is dropped into a bathtub on top of a man. A woman who finds out she has cancer hangs herself in her root cellar and swings around on-screen. A woman is hung from an attic by her baby son. Her husband later carries her corpse outside, wrapped up in a sheet. A woman comes back to her husband, and while she kisses him, pus-like liquid streams from one of her bruised eyes. Her face is purple and bloated and she's holding a steak knife. The husband screams and a squashy noise is heard as the screen fades to black, implying that he was stabbed by her. A deceased girl tells a woman that "she's going to twist her back so she'll never get out of bed again" A teenage girl is seen dying of spinal meningitis. Her dress is opened in the back, showing her spine graphically twisted and making a grotesque cracking sound as the girl curls up in bed. The girl's little sister is left alone to care for her while she dies. The dying girl vomits, coughs and has her neck warping around backwards while she convulses. It is later remarked by another character that she was "probably clinically insane". A character gives their kid and a cat a lethal injection to kill them (very upsetting)

Profanity Reason
"Multiple uses of "shit/stinking shit". 1 usage of "old fart". Multiple uses of "Jesus Christ/Jesus", "god", "oh my god", "damn/goddamned" and "hell". 1 usage of "son-of-a-bitch". 2 uses of "nuts cut" (referring to a cat getting neutered). Various derogatory terms towards indigenous people: "Indian", "ragman" (acceptable socially in the context of the film). "fuck off", and 1 use of arse.

Frightening & Intense Scenes
Frightening & Intense Scenes Reason
A girls deformed sister always looks and acts very frightening a lot and might frighten most viewers. There are some spooky scenic shots throughout, including a large burial ground atop a cliff, a makeshift cemetery for pets constructed by children, a woman hitchhiking in the dark next to an area of open forest, and a scene of tall trees falling over in the fog. There are multiple scenes where characters are visibly distraught, including a truck driver desperately trying to swerve around a child in the road (his panicking face is briefly shown), and a little girl screaming that her older sister is dead repeatedly as bizarre, hazy visions of other young children are shown on-screen. (Deleted. Personal opinions about ratings are not appropriate for the Parents Guide.) Pet Semetary is incredibly disturbing, vicious, and frightening. It is very depressing also. There is a scene in which a dying girl is shown, and her sister has visions of her coming to get her. A very disturbing scene in which the cat is killed by being held by the scruff of the neck as a syringe is injected into it's rear might upset some viewers as it slowly dies. The end is where you will probably get frightened. The premise of the film is very disturbing and frightening. When Pascow shows up, it is very eerie and frightening. Louis becomes mentally unhinged at the death of his infant son. His behaviour and mannerisms may frighten some viewers. Chilling fiddle music plays while he laughs at not being caught digging up his son's grave by the cops. He also burns a property down, shouts at a deceased cat and talks to himself. Near the end of the movie, there is a killer child that was brought back from the dead. The scene where a little boy is killed by an oncoming truck might upset and emotionally disturb some viewers.
