Synopsis

The "Memphis Belle" is a World War II bomber, piloted by a young crew on dangerous bombing raids into Europe. The crew only have to make one more bombing raid before they have finished their duty and can go home. In the briefing before their last flight, the crew discover that the target for the day is Dresden, a heavily-defended city that invariably causes many Allied casualties

BBFC Ratings info
MEMPHIS BELLE is a 1990 drama about a US aircrew flying one last mission to drop bombs on Germany during World War II. Language: A single use of strong language, said as several men report their status in unison as 'All f**ked up'. There are also various uses of milder bad language, including 'shit', 'bastard' and 'son of a bitch'. Some battle violence, with planes exploding and seen plummeting to the ground. Some slightly bloody burn-marks are seen on a man's forehead and cheek. Mild sex references, including to a man being a virgin. Pin-up pictures of women in underwear are seen pasted to the walls of the men's accommodation.

Sex & Nudity
mild
Sex & Nudity Reason
PG-13 for Some War Violence and Language One short scene with a man and a woman kissing, sex is implied, nothing is shown or heard. Numerous references to having sex and what they would 'give' to women.

Violence & Gore
moderate
Violence & Gore Reason
Nothing too explicit, a plane breaks in half and passengers are heard calling out for God. A man is hit by artillery and we briefly see his wound (kid's stuff compared to what they show these days). Images of blood splattered on windows, from other planes exploding, and references to "someone's guts splattered all over the window". In another scene, a thermos of tomato soup is splattered all over the inside of the cockpit with the pilot/co-pilot trying to figure out who got hit, before they realize what it was.

Profanity
moderate
Profanity Reason
One very loud use of f**k as a group of men shout out the meaning of the word "SNAFU." Words such as s***, SOB, h*ll, d*mn, and at least 10 uses of the Lord's name in vain.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
mild
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking Reason
There is a party where a lot of people are seen drinking, cigarette smoking is seen a lot during the first part of the movie.

Frightening & Intense Scenes
mild
Frightening & Intense Scenes Reason
The front of a plane is blown up and the pilot is seen flying out of it. Another plane is cut in half and men can be heard screaming in fear as it goes down.
