BBFC Ratings info
STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS is a sci-fi action adventure in which a young woman becomes embroiled in a galactic conflict. Violence: There are frequent scenes of moderate violence, including use of blasters and lightsabers, and dogfights between spaceships. Sight of blood and injury detail is limited and brief. Threat: Occasional scenes of moderate threat include characters being interrogated using 'the Force', which it is implied causes them pain, and characters being held at lightsaber-point. There is infrequent use of very mild bad language ('hell', 'damn').

Violence & Gore
Violence & Gore Reason
A man is injured by another character (cuts open his back) and he is seen unconscious for the rest of the movie. A man has his face sliced by a lightsaber, a bloody scar is seen in the aftermath Characters duel with lightsabers with the intent of killing each other. A village is wiped out by uniformed combatants. A defenseless old man preaching peace is mercilessly struck down and murdered. A uniformed combatant is shot, and as he dies, he leaves a bloody handprint on the helmet of one of his team members. Several characters are held against their will and telepathically tortured to the point of extreme pain or exhaustion. Numerous uniformed combatants are shot and fall down throughout the film. The presumption is that they are dead. Several fights or melee assaults occur where characters are struck in the face, body and legs. There are numerous scenes with chases or dogfights between the spacecrafts of the Resistance and the First Order. Kylo Ren kills Han Solo for not agreeing with and trying to sway him from his conviction.
